Zara, I came here from your Seabiscuit post on the God Pod. (I was looking to see if I’m going to be excommunicated for my criticism of the centrist Democrats.) I live in California so it doesn’t matter who I vote for for president, but for the past 60 years, i’ve been refusing to vote for the preordained candidates. When people say I’m throwing away my vote, and I reply then we should have ranked choice voting so I can vote my actual choice but say if that one doesn’t meet the threshold give my vote to the lesser of the remaining evils, then I get a lecture about positive versus normative. Yeah I’m sorry. I’m focusing on what should be. My whole life in fact. So? Maybe if more people were obsessed with what should be, then maybe it would be. Anyway, I like your style. Keep it up.

I am not affiliated with this campaign, but Rfk jr does resonate with me. He speaks of peace & ending the forever wars which I am not hearing from the DNC.
Sea Biscuit was one of my heroes growing up and now at 60 I’m happily giving my vote to RFK Jr. if for no other reason than to give the proverbial finger to the two party racket system and hopefully usher in a new presidential election that gets rid of the electoral college and has ranked voting!! These bought and paid for “news” outlets should be ashamed of their blatant attacks on our election process. Thank you for your thought provoking and well written post.

I disagree with your characterization of the Electoral College which exists to give every State an equal vote for the Presidency. I.e., all of the voters of California are one vote while all of the voters of Rhode Island are also one vote in the EC. Yes, initially the southern states wanted non-voters counted for purposes of representation in the House but that’s been reversed by the 13th, 14th and 15th Amendments.
Do you truly feel that the Presidency should be a Beauty Pageant with the most popular overall elected? In the current system, every state is courted; under a removal of the EC, only the most populous will be. Would that truly be better?
I’m just hearing that he is in PA today, being sued AGAIN. He’s been sued in EVERY state. BILLION$ spent -money that should be used to uplift our country.
He speaks out re the oligarchs & they don’t like it. He’s playing by the rules, but the others are not.
Not only are there mega forces against a true Democratic candidacy, but the voting itself in peril! I just want fairness (ha).
Today, Rfk jr is at a courtroom in PA. He arrived late due a cancelled flight & that, along with the attacks already in high gear, are not boding well. SUED IN EVERY STATE. This is just so wrong & what an utter waste of $$$.
